Question: I want to buy one of your books from Amazon but the status says that it's temporarily out of stock, what should I do?
Answer: There are a few options. Understand that what happens at Amazon is out of our control, they are a major distribution partner for us, but we don't control how they operate.
Some backstory on how Amazon works
Amazon used to be our largest distribution partner and they can be difficult to work with. With most of our retailers we have a 1-on-1 relationship with the buyer. So we can tell the person responsible for keeping our books on their shelves what to expect, we can work with them, and we can offer a lot of creative options.
But Amazon is GIANT and their system is almost completely automated. Their purchase ordering system automatically orders products it's algorithm thinks they will need in the next two weeks, then requests them from us. And generally speaking their algorithm is accurate... they always seem to have just enough of our products to meet demand.
But since their terms aren't favorable to us, we've mostly phased out selling through them.
Our advice? Just buy from us or any of our retailers and we'll take better care of you than Amazon.
